Dressage with Niki

Niki is based in Northern Westchester County, New York, where she maintains a permanent year-round training facility. She has been riding since 1991 and has dedicated herself to the study and practice of Dressage since 2002. Over many seasons, Niki served as a working student and assistant trainer under coaches of diverse European backgrounds. She complemented this hands-on apprenticeship by immersing herself in classical and modern theory from across the globe—from Xenophon to Paul Belasik—building a comprehensive understanding of the art and science of horsemanship.

A fixture on the East Coast Dressage circuit for years, Niki competed successfully at multiple levels before choosing to focus on the development of horses and riders full-time. After several winters training and competing in Florida, she returned to New York as her permanent home base.

At the heart of Niki’s program is an unwavering commitment to putting the horse first. She brings the highest standards to the ethical development and management of Dressage horses. What truly sets her apart is her rare diagnostic precision: she perceives the Fibonacci sequence as a living geometric and spatial blueprint within each horse’s movement. This natural pattern serves as her internal indicator of correct muscle engagement, balance, and biomechanical harmony. By reading these golden-ratio relationships in real time—through shoulder angles, hind-limb engagement, spinal suppleness, and the rhythm of the gaits—Niki can pinpoint subtle imbalances or inefficiencies that most observers miss. This unique insight allows her to design training plans that are not only effective but surgically precise, accelerating correct muscle development while protecting the horse’s long-term soundness.

Niki is also exceptionally proficient in long-lining and in-hand work, which she finds beautifully complementary to work under saddle for horses of all levels. These foundational tools help build straightness, suppleness, and engagement from the ground up before progressing under saddle. Her greatest joy is watching both horses and riders blossom through this thoughtful, individualized approach. Riders of all levels—from enthusiastic amateurs to experienced competitors—reach new levels of harmony, confidence, and personal bests in her program.
